HAR EXPERIMENTAL CURATIONS

How do we sense sound?

Hosted at HAR Studio in Berlin, this series invites participants to explore the body as a resonant chamber—both a receiver and interpreter of sound. Rather than passive hearing, listening is approached as an active, embodied process that shapes perception itself. Sound is treated as a continuous stream of sensory information—fluid, adaptive, and deeply interwoven with our internal states.

Through immersive sonic journeys that blend acoustic and electronic instrumentation, the series departs from conventional "sound healing" aesthetics. The aim is not to soothe, but to inquire into consciousness, presence, and the transformative potential of sound.

What changes when we listen deeply? Can sound shift our state of awareness?

INFINITE ECHOES + NICO TROMPE | 08.06.24

This is a transcendent deep listening experience that blends ancient sounds with modern electronic techniques. Nico’s journey comprises the ethereal sounds of gongs, mouth harps, chimes, and electric frequencies while being looped into a tapestry of dreamy and timeless soundscapes.

SENSING VIBRATIONS + JANE ARNISON | 17.08.24

Through a carefully composed vibrational subtonic journey, given by the mix of electronic frequencies and live instruments on and off the body, Jane aims to expand our sensory perception and deepen our awareness of ourselves and our environment.

TRANSIENT DRONES + NICO ROSENBERG | 12.10.2024

For the session, Nico Rosenberg presents a composition of layered drones and tonal textures that evoke a sense of timelessness, while AnaRosa brings the body into presence using acoustic instruments. The subtle shifts in sound will guide us through different emotional landscapes, inviting us to experience the fluidity of time as it unfolds in each moment.

SOUNDSCAPE FOR STILLNESS + MONDAME | 07.12.2024

mondame presents their latest musical creations, blending vocal processing with granular and modular synthesis woven into soft, generative soundscapes. These evolving layers, combined with live instruments played by Ana Rosa, aim to guide listeners toward a deep state of stillness of body and mind.

ALCHEMY OF DREAMS + ALEJANDRA RÍOS | 05.04.25

In the beginning of spring, the journey of renewal unfolds through evolving sonic textures. Our guest artist Alejandra Ríos weaves the raw resonance of metal into ethereal, dreamlike soundscapes, transforming rigid structures into fluid waves of sound. Through delicate processing, metallic tones shift and dissolve, mirroring the cycles of transformation and rebirth. As the once-solid becomes soft and immersive, we are invited to embrace change, letting sound guide us through a space of renewal, expansion, and blooming into new states of being.

HYPNOTIC FIELDS + MORDIO + PASCALE | 09.08.25

A carefully designed sound bath that oscillates between ambient electronic textureswhite noisefield recordings, and live therapeutic instruments like gongs, the monochord and chimes — combined with a led visualisation exercise to weave a hypnotic landscape of sound and sensation.

EARTHEN TONE + ILHEM | 27.09.25

The performance draws on the concept of earth —treating sound as something natural, relational, and alive. Ilhem’s vocal improvisations—shaped by years of multidisciplinary exploration—interact with AnaRosa’s subtle, resonant instrumentals to evoke a terrain of tone, texture, and vibration.

AETHEREAL ATMOSPHERE + ERIN | 11.10.25

Erin Lang (musician, composer, sound artist, poet) creates a journey for the sense guided by the sound of her heavenly harp and elfic voice. With a carefully constructed pedal array, she creates evolving clouds of frequencies that unfold seemlesly, dissolving time and space into pure aethereal essence. AnaRosa (sound artist, and on of HAR's facilitator) will guide the listeners into a state of deep relaxation through gentle movement and breathwork, and dialogue with Erin with other therapeutic instruments like gongs, chimes and flutes.
